Eduardo Romaguera is a Spanish artist born in Valencia in 1976. He practices painting, photography, sculpture and video art. He studied Fine Arts and then photography in Valencia. Thanks to a scholarship from the Mexican government, he did an exchange in Mexico, then finished his visual arts studies in Valencia. He currently lives and works in Marseille, France.  In his pictorial compositions, Eduardo Romaguera evolves within a figurative universe, within which he develops his artistic language. He gets carried away by inspiration, painting what he loves. As such, the city is a fertile source of inspiration, be it Marseille or New York. "It's my particular way of doing things. You should be aware that this process of creating a painting is not immediately mechanical, it is necessary to take into account several different parameters simultaneously. Poetry unites them, makes them timeless and allows me to transmit a thought in a transparent way”, explains the artist about his work.

Romaguera’s  work has been featured in solo exhibitions in the United States, India, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, and Spain. His work combines numerous artistic languages and includes elements of photography, painting, video art, sculpture, and new media. He describes poetry as being the key to his work, as it is also a learning process and 'a search in the understanding of the other' – other people and other objects.

There are many hidden meanings in the work of Eduardo Romaguera;  Eduardo’s paintings speak their own language, and it is the poetry of the artist’s signature that unites them. According to Eduardo, the life of an artist is intense.  He believes art is wonderful, everyone must experience it.  Romaguera considers his work as a game, and in this way he uses it to have fun with his elements, some technical and very precise. There is a lot of humor in his work.

With the "Poolside" series Eduardo pays tribute to the late Slim Aarons who was known for photographing "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places."  He sought to capture the glamour, charisma and celebrity of the rich and famous.  Aarons chronicled the leisure pursuits of the rich and famous in stunning environments, letting the natural beauty of his subjects become his focal point.  In the acrylic on canvas pieces Eduardo again interprets these photos into beautiful, intensely vivid colorful scenes.
